CARL FOLKE is co-founder and science director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and director of the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He has more than 30 years of experience in collaborating across disciplines and has broken new grounds in understanding the dynamic interplay of humans and nature, and economy and ecology.

Carl serves on several scientific advisory boards, including the United Nations University’s Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (Japan), University of Helsinki’s Institute of Sustainability Science (Finland), and the Waterloo Institute for Complexity and Innovation, University of Waterloo (Canada). Carl is recognized as one of the most cited scientists in the world and has received a range of awards for his achievements.
