GRETCHEN C. DAILY is the Bing Professor of Environmental Science in the Department of Biology at Stanford University, the director of the Center for Conservation Biology at Stanford, and a senior fellow at the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment.
Her main research interests include biogeography, conservation biology and ecology. She has discovered the economic costs of environmental destructions, caused by human societies and their economic activities. She has also contributed to the preservation of the ecosystem utilizing the concept of “ecosystem services.”
Daily is a co-founder of the Natural Capital Project which aims for improving the well-being of all people and nature by motivating greater and more targeted natural capital investments. Daily is a board member at the Beijer Institute for Ecological Economics and the Nature Conservancy.
