STEVE HOWARD is a leading sustainable business professional and a recognised authority on sustainability and climate change. Steve served on IKEA’s Executive Group Management from 2011-2017, where he led the development and implementation of the People and Planet Positive strategy. This strategy lead to more than 3 billion euros of investments from wind power to recycling and sustainable forestry; at the same time as creating a sustainable products category that more than tripled in revenue to a 2-billion-euro business including retail solar PV sales. By the end of his tenure, IKEA was recognized as one of the world’s top five leading sustainable businesses.
Originally, he is trained as an ecologist and has a PhD in Ecophysiology and Environmental Physics based on field research in Kenya. Steve Chairs We Mean Business and recently co-chaired the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Environmental and Natural Resource Security. He also serves on the board of Sustainable Energy for All. His TED Talk, Go All-in on Sustainability had more than one million views.
